Our Love Story
A journey of two hearts finding their way to each other across cultures and continents
It all started on November 7th, 2022, when Marjorie began her VIE at SAS in Karlsruhe, where Sarath was already working as a student in the Quality department.
Their first meeting left a lasting impression: Sarath's calm presence and kind smile immediately charmed Marjorie, while Sarath was taken by Marjorie's friendly smile and pink coat.
As they worked and shared lunch breaks, they grew closer, soon spending time outside of work — from Marjorie's pendaison de crémaillère to Christmas markets and birthdays. Their bond naturally deepened.
In a lovely twist, Sarath had studied French in high school — never imagining he'd one day meet a French woman he'd fall in love with.
First Indian Celebration
Sarath invited Marjorie to an engagement celebration for a family friend. It was her first introduction to Indian customs — eating with hands, hand-feeding cake, and a live-streamed ceremony with the couple in Germany and guests in India.
Meeting the Siblings
That summer, Marjorie's siblings visited. Sarath made a great impression, whether enjoying Simran's famous butter chicken or hosting a home-cooked biryani lunch.
Declaration of Love
On this special day, they confessed their love for each other. Though Sarath had to return to Freiberg for his thesis, they committed to each other and met regularly, even across distance.
First Christmas in France
Sarath spent his first Christmas with Marjorie's family in France — baking, singing carols, and visiting Mont Saint-Michel together.
Journey to Chennai
They visited Sarath's family in Chennai. Marjorie was warmly welcomed, and the couple spent a joyful week immersed in family life.
Families Unite in Strasbourg
Both families met for the first time in Strasbourg during Sarath's graduation — a short but meaningful meeting that confirmed their shared path ahead.
Brother's Wedding in Chennai
Marjorie moved near Leipzig for work, and Sarath joined her with a job nearby, close to Halle. They returned to Chennai for Sarath's brother's wedding — and many relatives asked when it would be their turn.
The Proposal
Sarath proposed to Marjorie at Gutenbergplatz in Karlsruhe, the place where their love story began, with close friends as witnesses.
Marjorie's Surprise
In return, Marjorie surprised Sarath with a symbolic gift — a watch — in a candle-lit room decorated with memories of their journey together.
